Brooklawn Assistance

[ImageHere]Brooklawn Child and Family Services is a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility with close ties to the United Church of Christ.  The center is a Metro United Way Agency and is accredited by the JCAHO.  Located on Godsmith Lane, Brooklawn provides housing, schooling and treatment for approximately 95 boys (ages eight to seventeen) with severe emotional and behavioral problems.  In addition, they work with 60 children in their own homes in an attempt to prevent institutionalization of those boys.

We currently do not have a member representative on the Brooklawn board.  However, St. Andrew is represented on the Brooklawn Auxiliary by Betty Boeschel and Carolyn Laufer.  The auxiliary speonsors money-making projects in order to raise funds for "extras" for the boys.  We also have volunteer tutors at Brooklawn.

Some of the projects St. Andrew is involved in are:

  • Pancake Lunch
  • German Dinner
  • Baskets for the Silent Auction

We also promote and collect money for auxiliary memberships.  Other volunteer opportunities such as tutoring, sponsoring parties, etc. are available.  Contact Missy Fountain at 451-5177, Director of Volunteers to offer your services.  To learn more about Brooklawn click here.
